Due to the lack of
resources intended for Spanish-speaking students, we´ve established this forum
to provide the necessary tools for learning the basics about computers as well
as how to do research on the internet and in the library. For those that have a
computer, there will also be resources about how to maintain a computer in good
condition so that it lasts longer.
The format will be the
following: every week, various lessons to help with common assignments will be
put on the site. Some will be easier, just consisting of a few sentences about
how to do something more efficiently and others will be more involved and even
include screenshots to aid the student in their learning. In the comments
section, students can ask questions and give their opinions to make the site
better.
The creators, Benjamin
Zumwalt, B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley and extensive
experience in library- and internet-based research from his undergrad work, and
Wendy Lopez, a teacher from Petén, Guatemala, who comes with experience working
with the students in the schools where she received her training as well as
students that come to our internet café in Antigua, Guatemala, hope this site
will be helpful for you and/or your students. We would love your feedback,
questions, suggestions, etc. about the content we’ve put up. Currently, we
operate Café Internet Anlly in Antigua, Guatemala where we put to use the same
lessons on this site with the students coming in looking for help with their
homework.
